Ordinance adopted:" <br />RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN JOSEPH Be JAWORSKI._ <br />RESOLUTION directing the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana,to proclaim October <br />11th, of each year as "GENERAL PULASKI�S MEMORIAL DAY" for the -obs-ervance and commemoration of <br />the death of Brigadier - General Casimir Pulaski:' <br />WHEREAS, The 11th day of October, 1779 , is the slate in American history of the heroic <br />death of Brigadier -General Casimir Pulaski, who died from wounds received on October 9, 1779, <br />at the siege of Savannah, Georgia; and, <br />WHEREAS, The state of Indiana,_ by- x) legislative enactment, designated October 11 of each <br />year; and the 71st Congress enacted a Public Resolution Noel 133 designated October 11, 1931 as <br />90EXERAL PUISASKI S MEMORIAL DAY "; and Z <br />WHEREAS, It is fitting that the recurring ann Versary of this day,.- be � commemorated with <br />suitable x, patriotic and publim- exercises in observing and commemorating the death of this gre <br />American hero of the Revolutionary War; THEREFORE <br />A - Be it resolved by-the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, That the Mayor <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana is hereby authorized and directed to issue a proclamation <br />calling upon the official's ofthe City of South Bend, Indiana to display the flag of the <br />United States on all government buildings on October 11 of each year and inviting the people of <br />the City of South Bend to observe the day in schools and churches, or other suitable places, <br />with appropriate ceremonies in commemoration -of the death of General Casimir Pulaski, <br />On Motion of Councilman Rokop the Resolution.was- adopted.
