Meeting of the Committee of the Whole. -� <br />At there are no MinAtes,kept of the Committee of the Whole Meeting , I will copy the <br />following Resolution that was adopted at said Meeting on May 4th, 1931 at 7 :30 o'clock <br />P;l M;' in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, South Bend, Indiana. <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, The earthly career of Samuel J. Lenon, Chief of the City oi'South Bend, <br />has this day been terminated in death; and <br />WHEREAS, Chief Lenom was for a number of years a member of the Police Department <br />of the City of South Bendy and has since the first of January, •1930 <br />occupied the-Office of Chief of Police of our City, in which capacity <br />-he served earnestly and diligently and gave his best efforts to the <br />fulfillment of the many duties that devolved upon him; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY__THE_..MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, meeting as a committee of the whole, that out of <br />respect to the memory of Chief Lenon and the bereaved members of his <br />family, who survive him, that the meeting of this committee be now <br />adj ourned' <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,,That the flags of the City Hall be placed at half— <br />staff until after the funeral of the deceased; that a copy ofthis <br />Resolution be duly recorded in the proper records of the City of South <br />Bend, and another copy, duly certified by the Clerk, be forwarded to <br />the bereaved members of Chief Lenon's family.` <br />Geo:' W.
