REGULAR MEETING JULY 8, 2013 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Henry Davis: Because it is really, really bad and I don’t know who thought it <br />was a good idea, I don’t and but we are here now and that really needs to be addressed. <br /> <br />Mike Danch: Assuming the zoning gets approved we have to come back and work with the <br />building department on what is called the final site plan and that’s get reviewed by city <br />departments one last time before so that may be taken care of at that time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dieter made a motion to continue this bill until the July 22, 2013. <br />Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) <br />ayes. <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 11-13 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL AMENDING THE <br /> ZONING ORDINANCE AND REQUESTING A <br /> SPECIAL EXCEPTION FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br /> 3801 WESTERN AVENUE, COUNCILMANIC <br /> DISTRICT 2 IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br /> INDIANA <br /> <br />Councilmember Dieter made a motion to continue this bill until the July 22, 2013 meeting of the <br />Council. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />eight (8) ayes. <br /> <br />BILL NO. 30-13 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL TO VACATE THE <br /> FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: STREETS <br /> AND ALLEYS IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY SAMPLE <br /> STREET, HIGH STREET AND THE RAILROAD <br /> TRACKS <br /> <br />Councilmember Oliver Davis, Chairperson, Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, <br />reported that this committee held a meeting this afternoon and it was the consensus of the <br />committee to send this bill to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. <br /> <br />th <br />Michael Mecham, City Engineer, 13 Floor County-City Building, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., <br />along with Chief Stephen Cox, South Bend Fire Department, 1222 S. Michigan Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana made the presentation for this bill. <br /> <br />Mr. Mecham advised that the purpose of this vacation is to allow for the construct of a new <br />South Bend Fire Department Training Facility. <br /> <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this bill, Councilmember Dieter made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill.
