l- ( Concluded ) RESOLUTION. AMERICAN LEGION POST NO. 50. South Bend, Indiana. WHEREAS, The American Legion holds as one its civic tenets the .building 2f .up of good sterl character in American youth, and WHEREAS, safe and sane recreational facilities create an atmosphere which the good qualitie our youth may be developed and WHEREAS, in our -City in the vicinity of Arnold and Webster Streets there is an immediate ne of such recreational facilities; and WHEREAS, not the Park Board is authorized by the City (r Council according to the provisions of the State Law to issue Bonds to the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars; and WHEREAS, the cost of the acquisition of property in the vicinity of Arnold. and Webster Stre amd its erection_for suitable playgrounds for the children will not exceed the sum of approximat Fifty Thousand Dollars, and WHEREAS, this expenditure will in noway hinder_ the Park Board from-initiating and completin; simultaneously other necessary projects that it may have in _consideration; and WHEREAS, the needs of playgrounds at Arnold -and Webster streets is urgent and evidenat to all interested citizens; therefore, be it RESOLVED, that we, the members of South Bend Post # 50, The American Legion, in regular meeting assembled approve and endorse the movement fbr the immediate erection of playgrounds in above mentioned vicinity, and urge the members of the Park Board to take immediate action lo-okinj the early produrement of the necessary land and equipment to provide suitable facilities for the children: in above named neighborhood, and be it further RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent m to the Hon. On Motion of Councilman Altgfeld, The Resolut -ion was accepted and �orde: to be placed on file, Motion carried. RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN GEO., F. HULL. WHEREAS, the increased use of automobiles has placed a burden upon the streets of the City o South Bend which renders them inadequate for parking facilities; and - WHEREA;S, it is of Jawasurable service to the public that it be provided wi th parkin g facilities for automobillWat and other vehicles within a reasonable proximity of the main business district of said City; and WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of cities of Indiana are authorized by law to proceed to acquire by lease or otherwise, parking facilities for the use-of the public in -such cities subjec to the approval of the Common Council;_ THEREFORE) BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana that the Board of Public Works of said City be requested to initiate proceedineys for the acquisition by lease or otherwise, of space within the vicinity of the &mfm main business section of South Bend the purpose of accomodating persons who desire to use said space for parking facilities, and the Boardmproceed in the manner directed by the Statutes of Indiana. On Motion of Councilman Hull the Resolution was adopted. Motion carried. On Motion of Councilman Altfeld the Council adjourned at 9:35 o'clock P. M. Motion Carried. lmwom On .
