February 10th, 1930.
REGULAR MEETING.
MINUTES.
Be it Remembered that the Common Council of the Ctty of South Bend, Indiana, met in the
Regular Session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Monday evening February 10th, 1930 at
8:15 o'clock P. M. All Members present except Councilmen Nelson and Hiss. President Fegan pres.-id
The Minutes of the two previous meetings were read and on Motion of Councilman.Hull were referre
to the Committee:- on the Inspection and Supervision of Minutes. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATION.
South Bend, Ind.. February ft5th, 1930.
Common Council, City of South Bend, Indiana.
K ATTENTION: MR.- GEO. HULL.
Gentlemen: -
Referring to the matter of an Isolation Home for the City of South Bend, the writer,
personally, feels that our-city is very much in need of a home, or quarters, in which people
suffering.from critically,., contagious diseases may be taken and given the very-best possible
care and comfort, without danger of exposure or spreading the disease.
While we have never yet experienced this situation, I hesitate to think just whht the
result would be on our business should one of our guests contract a disease of such a nature that
he would not be admitted to our local hospitals.
It is very important that a progressice city, the size: of South Bend, takes every pre:cautio
to curb- the spread of contagious diseasea. Very truly yours, Jacob Hoffman, President,
Hoffman Hotel Company. On Motion of Councilman Hull the Communication was accepted and ordered
to be placed on file. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATION..
South Bend, Indiana, February 5,, L930.
Bar. Lazarus Altfeld, 526 West Division, South Bend, Indiana..
Dear Sir:- Have been reading,in the paper of your proposed building for contagious: diseae-e s..Th
to me looks like a ne)eass:ity that only luck has let us get by without..
