ORDINANCE NO. is yp c@ _ 7 r AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $53,000.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: The equitable and fiscally sound provision of basic services, in- cluding supporting capital facilities, infrastructure and general public improve- ments, is the :foundation of the quality of the City's residential areas and neighborhoods. The many public and private services and supporting facilities, whether at the neighborhood, community, or city level are essential for the city resident's existence. In order to maintain and upgrade the quality of the city's neighborhood and provide the necessary public services and facilities certain public works projects and programs will be conducted by the Department of Public Works. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The sum of $53,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the year starting July 7, 1978, from the City of South Bend's Community Development Block Grant Fund (Program Year 1978). The appropriation shall be used within the boundaries of the Community Development Neighborhood Strategy Areas and other "low" income areas to support Community Development housing rehabilitation act- ivities as approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under Title Twenty -Four (24), Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the Community Development Program Year 1978. The appropriation shall be administered by the Division of Community Development and the Department of Public Works and will be administered as set forth below: PROGRAM - CD - 78 - 603 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SPECIAL PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS PURPOSE Lighting of Railroad Viaducts AMOUNT $53,000.00 TOTAL APPROPRIATION $53,000.00 SECTION II.
