LaMar Wilson <br />Assistant Director <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />M E M O R A N D U M <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />CARL ELLISON, DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />SUBJECT: 1978 CDBG APPROPRIATION (STREET IMPROVEMENTS) <br />DATE: JUNE 21, 1978 <br />q��o <br />119 <br />-go <br />1440 County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />219/284 -9335 <br />The Division of Community Development is submitting for your consider- <br />ation an appropriation bill totaling $495,000.00 to be used for various <br />street and street related improvements. <br />Street improvement activities will be conducted within all six (6) CD <br />target areas and other "lower" income areas as approved by the Department <br />of Housing and Urban Development. <br />Eligible costs within the CD Street Improvement Fund include: acquisi- <br />tion of property for off - street parking (limited to neighborhood commercial <br />revitalization projects); construction of off - street parking facilities; all <br />types of street resurfacing (excluding street repair activities); recon- <br />struction or construction of streets; street related improvements such as <br />drainage, curb /gutter, sidewalks, street trees, furniture, lighting, and <br />signing; and, the lease or rent of street scarification equipment. <br />We respectfully request your favorable consideration of the attached <br />bill.
