NEMETH, <br />BEND <br />Mayor <br />COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 <br />April 17, 1978 <br />Members of the Common Council <br />441 County /City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: R & S 53 - Sample Street <br />$15,000 <br />Dear Councilmen: <br />2191284 -9251 <br />The attached appropriation requesting $15,000 represents the cost of that <br />engineering work which must be completed if this project is to receive <br />Federal Funding. <br />When the engineering contract for this project was initially let, it was <br />anticipated that Sample Street would be constructed using local funds to <br />the normal City standards. After the bulk of the engineering work was <br />completed, it was determined that this project might be eligible for <br />Federal -Aid Urban Funds. <br />The City has successfully pursued their application for these funds, and <br />approximately $650,000 has been made available for the 1979 construction <br />season. In order to utilize these funds, the plans and specifications <br />must be revised in order to meet the specific requirements of the Indiana <br />State Highway Commission. The estimated cost of these revisions is <br />$15,000. <br />Your favorable consideration is requested.
