SPECIAL MEETING NO�TE�IBER 20T 1 q67 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in <br />the Council Chambers in City Hall on Monday, November 20, 1967, at 8:19' A..M. All of the members were <br />present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, Edwin Thomas Smith, <br />who presided. <br />The Clerk read the Call for Special Meeting <br />STATE OF INDIANA : <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY : SS: <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND: <br />TO THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: <br />Gentlemen: <br />You are hereby notified that there will be a meeting of the Common Council on Monday, November 20, 1967, <br />at 8 :00 A.M., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, in order to continue public hearing and entertain <br />third reading on the following ordinance, to -wit: <br />AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO CONDEMN CERTAIN REAL <br />ESTATE FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL <br />OF SOUTH BEND, AND THAT THE ACQUISITION OF SAID REAL <br />ESTATE IS NECESSARY FOR THE EXPANSION OF SAID HOSPITAL. <br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this <br />notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special <br />Meeting. <br />Dated this 14th day of November, 1967 <br />/s/ Kathryn L. Blough <br />City Clerk of the City of South Bend, Indiana <br />The within call came to hand this 14th day of November, 1967, which I served by reading the same to each <br />Councilman upon the date designated, as follows:.. <br />/s/ Walter M. Szymkowiak <br />/s/ Janet S. Allen <br />/s/ Edwin Thomas Smith <br />/s/ Robert 0. Laven <br />/s/ John L. Hunter <br />/s/ John V. Wise <br />/s/ Richard G. Geib <br />or by leaving a certified copy thereof at the last and usual place of residence of such members as I was <br />unable to find, as follows: <br />Albert E. Palmer <br />Chester Muszynski <br />/s/ Officer H. Kruszewski <br />Member of the South Bend Police Department <br />There being no objections, the Call for Special Meeting was accepted and placed on file. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />ORDINANCE <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Geib, <br />Szymkowiak, Laven, Smith and Muszynski <br />ABSENT: None <br />AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO CONDEMN CERTAIN REAL <br />ESTATE FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL <br />OF SOUTH BEND, AND THAT THE ACQUISITION OF SAID <br />REAL ESTATE IS NECESSARY FOR THE EXPANSION OF <br />SAID HOSPITAL <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents <br />were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. The public hearing had been continued from the regular <br />meeting of November 13, 1967. Councilman Allen made a motion to recess. Time: 8:20. Reconvened: 8:30 A.M. <br />Russell Kuehl, Attorney for Memorial Hospital announced that since both parties involved in the <br />land acquisition had reached a tentative agreement, at the present time, he would request that the Council <br />re -set the public hearing for it's regular meeting, November 27, 1967. Councilman Geib then moved that <br />public hearing be continued until November 27, 1967. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Special Meeting of the Council, Councilman Allen <br />made a motion to adjourn. Time: 8:35.
