t <br />WHOLE MEETING <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole <br />in the Council Chambers in City Hall on Monday, June 12, 1967, at 8:00 P.M. All members were present except <br />Councilmen Hunter and Geib. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Edwin T. Smith, who presided. <br />Chairman Smith announced that Mr. Hunter's absence was due to the recent death of his father, and Mr. Geib <br />was out of the City on business. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS IN THE PUBLIC <br />INTEREST TO ACQUIRE THE MASS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM <br />OF NORTHERN INDIANA TRANSIT, INC., WHICH SHALL BE <br />A DISTINCT MUNICIPAL CORPORATION AND WHICH SHALL <br />BE KNOWN AS "THE SOUTH BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br />CORPORATION" AND DEFINING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF <br />SAID CORPORATION. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance were: Stanley Ladd, President <br />of the AFL -CIO; Dr. Joseph Sequin, Chairman of fthTem Bus Transportation Committee of the South Bend - Mishawaka <br />Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc and W. A. Hahn, /long -time employee of the bus company. Mr. Sequin read a <br />Resolution of the South Bend - Mishawaka Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc., in support of the Ordinance, which <br />he then presented to the Clerk to be placed on file. Councilman Wise made a motion that the Ordinance go to <br />the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Allen made a motion to <br />rise and report to the Council.
