Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole <br />in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, February 27, 1967 at 8:00 P.M., with all members present <br />except Councilman Hunter, who was out of the city on Business. The meeting was called to order by Chairman <br />Edwin T. Smith, who presided. Chairman Smith introduced Reverend Harold R. Hotchkiss, who gave the invocation. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING ORDINANCE <br />NO. 3702, AS HERETOFORE AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED AND THE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CHAPTER 40, ET SEQ., <br />AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED AND ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />BY ORDINANCE NO. 4608 -63 (Location: Southwest corner of <br />U.S. 31 and Angela Blvd.) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents <br />were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Mr. Francis Jones, <br />attorney for the petitioner, American Realty Company. Councilman Allen made a motion that the Ordinance <br />go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY <br />LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA CERTAIN LANDS AND PROVIDING <br />AFTER ANNEXATION SHALL TAKE EFFECT, THAT FOR A PERIOD OF <br />THREE YEARS, ONE -HALF (2) OF THE MUNICIPAL PROPERTY <br />TAXES TO BE IMPOSED UPON THE ANNEXED TERRITORY SHALL BE <br />IMPOUNDED AND PLACED IN A SPECIAL FUND SOLELY FOR THE <br />BENEFIT OF THE ANNEXED TERRITORY. (Location: Land <br />bounded by Ireland, U.S. 31, U.S. 31 Interchange, <br />Jackson School Property and Miami Rd.) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents <br />were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mr. Hawblitzel <br />exhibited a petition bearing the names of more than 50 property owners who are not in favor of the Ordinance. <br />Geib <br />Councilman /made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried, 7 ayes (Councilmen Allen, Wise, Geib, Szymkowiak, Laven, Smith and Muszynski) <br />1 Nay (Councilman Palmer) 1 absent (Councilman Hunter). <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF <br />$44,017.90 BY THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE PURCHASE OF WATER <br />METERS FROM THE NEPTUNE METER COMPANY DURING THE <br />CALENDAR YEAR 1967 <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents <br />were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Mr. Howard Goodhew, <br />Water Works Superintendent. Councilman Laven made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as <br />favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORTWMAWT <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF <br />$19,239.62 BY THE WATER WORKS OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE PURCHASE <br />OF WATER METERS FROM THE HERSEY - SPARLING <br />METER COMPANY DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR <br />1967. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents <br />were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Mr. Howard Goodhew, <br />Water Works Superintendent. Councilman Geib made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as <br />favorable. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Mr. Howard Goodhew, <br />Water Works Superintendent.
