Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole <br />in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday,May 23, 1966, at 8:00 P.M., with all members present. The <br />meeting_. - was' "Call -ed'.to order by Chairman Edwin T. Smith, who presided. Reverend Stanley Dodgson,First Baptist <br />Church, led the devotions. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 40, SECTION 40 -14 <br />OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, 1962, ALSO KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NUMBER <br />3702, ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ON THE 14th DAY OF OCTOBER, <br />1963, AND ALSO KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND. (Location: 800 <br />Block N. Twyckenham). <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was William A. Hozinski;' <br />attorney - ..representing the petitioner ;and Emery Szabo ;'836.- Northwtsod Dn.� Speaking against-the Ordinance <br />was Emanuel Silverman, 825.N.'Twyckenham Dr.. Councilman"Szymkowiak made a motion "that the Ordinance go.. <br />to.the Council as favorable.. Councilman Palmer seconded.the motion. Motion carried <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3702 AS HERETOFORE AMENDED AND <br />SUPPLEMENTED. (Location: 3000.E. McKinley) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Douglas D. Seely, attorney <br />for the petitioner. Also speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Mr. Herman Light, petitioner. Speaking <br />against the Ordinance were: Lewis Mundell, 127 S. 34th St., Norman Berlincourt, 3328 E. Jefferson Blvd., <br />Edwin Gonter, 534 Preston Dr., and James Walsh, 3022 Salem Dr. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the <br />Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION <br />3, SUBSECTIONS (15) AND (16) OF THE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962. <br />This being the time heretofore set f6r public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Forrest R. West, Building Commissoner, explained the need for <br />the Ordinance, and spoke in favor of it. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the Ordinance be amended in <br />Line 47 to read "southwesterly " instead of "southeasterly ". Councilman Geib seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. Councilman Geib made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council favorable, as amended. Councilman <br />Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Committee+of the Whole, Chaiannan Smith instructed members of the <br />Committee of the Whole, to rise and report to the Council.
