U ►zi��J���S�!!�%l�l� <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 40 -19 OF THE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962, AS <br />AMENDED <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Palmer made a motion that <br />the Ordinance be set for public hearing on April 11, 1966. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCES. FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING $80,974.23 FROM THE SOUTH <br />BEND ST. JOSEPH COUNTY BUILDING AUTHORITY FUND:.. TO <br />THE GENERAL FUND OF SOUTH BEND AND APPROPRIATING <br />$80,974.23 TO ACCOUNT L71- BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND <br />IMPROVEMENTS, SAID ACCOUNT BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Laven made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on April 11, 1966. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $1,600.00 FROM THE <br />SURPLUS IN THE MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY FUND TO <br />ACCT. MVH 726 -OTHER EQUIPMENT <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Laven made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be set for public hearing April 11, 1966. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. ! <br />RESOLUTION NO. 129 -66 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION <br />WITH THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION, U. S. <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR <br />A GRANT AND /OR LOAN UNDER THE TERMS OF PUBLIC LAW 89 -136 <br />WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 89 -136, the United States of America has authorized the making <br />of grants and /or loans to public bodies and private or public nonprofit organizations or associations to aid • <br />in financing the construction of specific public projects: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND; <br />1. That Mayor Lloyd M. Allen be and he is hereby authorized to execute and file an application on behalf <br />of City of South Bend with the Economic Development Administration, U. S. Department of Commerce, for a grant and/ <br />or loan to aid in financing the construction of: <br />The project involves new water works facilities to be constructed as an expansion and improvement program to If <br />existing facilities. These new facilities will include filtration plants, wells and transmission mains which <br />will eliminate the "red water " problems of the community and also provide an adequate quality and quantity <br />of water for industrial use and fire Opotection. ! 41 1 <br />2. That Howard Goodhew, Water Works Superintendent, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to furnish <br />such information as the Economic Development Administration, U. S. Department of Commerce, may reasonably <br />request in connection with the application which is herein authorized to be filed. <br />/s/ Albert E. Councilman Allen spoke against the pdoption of the resolution. Councilman ` <br />Vise made a motion for a recess. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried. Time: 9:15 Y.M. <br />Reconvened. Time: 9:25 P.M. Councilman Laven made a motion that the the Resolution be adopted. Councilman <br />Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of 5 ayes <br />(Councilmen Hunter, Palmer, Wise, Szymkowiak and Laven) 1 nay (Councilman Allen) 3 absent (Councilmen Geib, <br />Smith and Muszynski). <br />
