.R9AN:r7AT-T= MEETING JANUARY 3, 1966 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chambers <br />in the City Hall, January 3, 1966,,at 7 :30 P.M. Mayor Lloyd M. Allen , who presided, called the meeting <br />to order. Mayor Allen expressed his appreciation to the Council for their diligence and dedication to <br />their appointments. Mayor Allen thanked the Councilmen for having done the very jobs to which they <br />were'eaected. Mayor Allen pointed out the growing importance of local government today. <br />The following Councilmen were present: Councilmen -At- Large: Mrs. Janet Allen, Albert Palmer and John V. Wise; <br />First District Councilman, Richard G. Geib; Second District Councilman; Walter M. Szymkowiak;F6ur.tH District <br />Councilman John L. Hunter, Jr.; Fifth District Councilman Edwin Thomas Smith and Sixth District Councilman <br />Chester Muszynski. Absent: 'Third District Councilman, Robert 0. Laven, being out of the city on City <br />business. . <br />Mayor Allen announced that nominations were now open for President of the Common Council. Councilman Smith <br />nominated Councilman John L. Hunter Jr., for President of the Council. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried and the Clerk was instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for Councilman Hunter for President of <br />the Common Council. Councilman Hunter was declared the duly re- elected President of the Common Council. <br />Mayor Allen announced that nominations were now open for the office of Vice President of the Common Council. <br />Councilman Hiinter,n6minafed Councilman John V. Wise for the office of Vice President. Councilman Palmer <br />made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried and the <br />Clerk was instructed to cast a unanimous ballot for Councilman Wise for Vice President of the Common Council. <br />Councilman rise was declared the duly re- elected Vice - President of the Common Council. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Hunter made a motion to adjourn. <br />Councilman Wise seconded the motion.
