SPECTAL. MFETTNG NOVEMBER 13 1965 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council Chambers on Saturday,,November 13, at 10 :00 A.M., with all members present, The meeting was called to order by .john L. Hunter, Jr., President. except Councilman Muszynski The Clerk read the call for Special Meeting, as follows: STATE OF INDIANA ) ST. JOSEPH COUNTY ) SS: CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING CITY OF SOUTH BEND ) To the President and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that there will be a meeting of the Common Council on Saturday, November 13, 1965, at 10:00 A.M.I. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, for the purpose of determining if a vacancy exists in the office of Councilman and, if such vacancy be found to exist, for the purpose of filling such vacancy pursuant to the laws of the State of Indiana. The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make'diie return of such service of said Special Meeting. Palmer /s/ Edwin Thomas Smith or by leaving a certified copy thereof at the last and usual place of residence of such members as I was unable to find, as follows: Chester Muszynski Richard G. Hunter, Jr. Irvin Gloyeski Daniel Niedbalski Members of the South Bend Police Department The call was unanimously accepted and placed on file. 20, Councilman Smith submitted the name of Robert 0. Laven, as Councilman of the Third District. Councilman Hunter seconded the nominatio8;:;:•Councilman Allen made a motion that the nominations be closed. Motion Carried. Robert 0. Laven was appointed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent, to fill the unexpired term of Walter E. Glass, deceased, Councilman of the Third District. (Councilman Muszynski) Mr. Laven took the Oath of Office, given by Mayor Lloyd M. Allen. Councilman Smith made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 A.M. ATTEST:. APPROVED: a
