Perhaps a clearer understanding of the need for this type of committee can be seen when you stop to consider your own positions in- dividually in the community. You each represent several thousand people. However, none of you can-honestly speak as the average of your constituents would on issues of morality. This is the same position the theatre manager, bookstore proprietor and the publishers are in. When they can be told their acts offend the moral conscious of the community, then there is no reason for them to continue in the face of the State Law. Councilman Geib made a motion that the Communication be accepted and directed to the City Attorney for his tuvestigation as to what can be done and_how it may best be entertained. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried 5 ayes and 2 nays (Councilman Allen and Wise).
