SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 23, 1965 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the <br />Council Chambers on Wednesday, June 23, 1965, at 8 :10 A-.M., with all members present except Councilmen Palmer, <br />Wise and Glass. The meeting was called to order by President John L. Hunter, Jr., who presided. <br />The Clerk read the Call for Special Meeting: <br />TO THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL: <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />Your are hereby notified that there will be a Special Meeting of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana on the 23rd of June, 1965 at 8 :00 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, for the purpose of: <br />1. CONSIDERING A TAX PAYERrs PETITION FOR THE ISSUANCE OF A BOND <br />AND THE CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO SUCH PETITION <br />AUTHORIZING A BOND ISSUE IN THE AMOUNT OF $1515009000.00 FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF ACQUISITION OF LAND AND THE CONSTRUCTION AND FURNISHING <br />OF A CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND THE PAYMENT <br />OF EXPENSES INCIDENTAL TO SUCH LAND PURCHASE, BOND ISSUE AND THE <br />CONSTRUCTION; ALSO THE CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING <br />THE SUM OF $1,500,000.00 IN EXCESS OF THE PUBLISHED BUDGET FOR THE <br />YEAR 1965 FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE ACQUISITION OF LAND AND THE CON- <br />STRUCTION OF A CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT TO HOUSE OFFICES, EQUIPMENT, <br />PERSONNEL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND THE PAYMENT OF EXPENSES <br />INCIDENTAL TO SUCH BOND ISSUE, SUCH LAND ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION <br />OF SUCH CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND THE PROCUREMENT OF FURNISHINGS FOR <br />SUCH CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT. <br />2. Leszcz #154 <br />Members of the South Bend Police Department <br />There being no objections, the Call for Special Meeting was accepted and placed on file. <br />COUNTER -PARTS NO. 1 T0.12, INC. <br />PETITION REQUESTING ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: <br />The undersigned, owners of taxable real estate located in the City of South Bend, Indiana, and residing <br />at the address in said City appearing opposite their signatures below, do hereby respectfully petition the <br />Common Council of said City of South Bend, Indiana to issue bonds of said City in an amount not to exceed <br />One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,500,000) for the purpose of procuring funds to be applied on <br />the cost of acquisition of land as a site or sites for, and the construction, furnishing and equipment of, <br />a building or buildings as a centralized city facility to house various departments, offices and branches <br />of city government and also to provide for the housing and maintenance of city equipment of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana; together with the incidental expenses in connection with the foregoing and on account of the <br />issuance of bonds therefor. <br />Number of Signers 544; Owners of Taxable Real,Estate 478 and Non - Owners of Taxable Real Estate 66. The 12 <br />Counter -Parts were verified by the County Auditor. <br />Councilman Smith made a motion that the petition be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion.
