REGULAR MEETING MAY 24 1965 REPORT OF CITY PLANNING COMMISSION May 10, 1965 The Honorable Common Council City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: The attached petition of the Common Council to annex to the city of South Bend, Indiana an irregular tract of land situated East of Miami Road near Jackson Road and abutting the city limits on its southern boundary was legally advertised under date of April 26, 1965 and given public hearing on May 6, 1965. The following action was taken: After due consideration the Commission found that in their opinion the six determinants of. annexation apply to the area at issue. It was therefore duly moved, seconded, and unanimously carried that the petition be recommended favorably to the Council. Very truly yours, CITY PLANNING COMMISSION Robert L. Huff, /s/ Director of Planning RLH/cf attach. Councilman Allen made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. The following action was taken: After due consideration the Commission found that the proposed zone change would not be in the best interest of the surrounding area; would not constitute the best use of subject land, and would impair proper d"evelgpmerit of surrounding vacant land to the north and to the south. City Clerk May 11, 1965 City Hall South Bend, Indiana Dear Madam: i I have previously prepared a Petition to the City Planning Commission requesting the rezoning of property belonging to Jake and Rose Weingarten located on Hickory Road off McKinley Highway, being a tract of approximate ten acres. My clients have requested that the matter not be presented to the Common Council, hence no zoning ordinance will be submitted.
