SPECIAL MEETING <br />AUGUST 3. 1964 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the <br />Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, August 3, 1964, at 7:05 P.M., with all members present. The <br />meeting was called to order by Councilman John L. Hunter Jr., President. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Geib, <br />Szymkowiak, Glass, Smith and Muszynski. <br />ABSENT: None. <br />Councilman Hunter asked the Council to stand for a moment in silence of prayer "in respect to the memory of <br />Henry Sucher ". <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE <br />EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1965, AND ENDING <br />DECEMBER 31, 1965, INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR <br />WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS El7.'IiER THAN <br />THE GENERAL FUNDS, OF SAID CITY, TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPART- <br />MENTS, FIREMEN"S PENSION AND POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN <br />AND URBAN REDEVELOPMENT AND FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES COMMISSIONS, BUILDING <br />DEMOLITION, REPAIR AND CONTINGENT FUND, PARK DISTRICT FUND, GENERAL SINKING <br />FUND, HOSPITAL FUND, ART ASSOCIATION FUND AND THE URBAN REDEVELOPMENT FUND: <br />PROVIDING THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND <br />OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE SALARIES OF CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES, REPEALING <br />ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: PROVIDING A <br />TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion that <br />the ordinance be set for public hearing on August 31, 1964 at 8:00 P.M. and referred to the Ways and Means <br />Committee for further study. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Smith made a motion that the Committee of the Whole meet on August 17, 1964, at 8 :00 P.M., at the <br />Morris Civic Auditorium to hold a public hearing on the budget and tax levy for 1965. Councilman Glass seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />
