REGULAR MEETING MAY 25 1964 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 67 -- 64 <br />A resolution of the Common Council of the South Bend, Indiana endorsing the establishing of a plan of action <br />for the revitalization of the Downtown Area. <br />Be it resolved that the Common Council of South Bend, Indiana realizes that an urgent need exists to construct <br />a combination City - County building and to implement a general program for the Downtown Area. <br />Let it further be resolved both are an integral part of the Downtown Area, the revitalization of which can be <br />a very potent factor in increasing the economy and employment of the entire city and county. <br />Let it further be resolved that it is imperative that our economy be continually strengthened at an early date; <br />therefore we believe that a plan of action and priority schedule be implemented. <br />Let it further be resolved helping ourselves is vitally important. Co- operation between government, civic <br />organizations and private enterprises is essential. It is with this thought in mind the Common Council of <br />South Bend, Indiana subscribes to and urges everyone interested in total development of our City and County <br />to endorse a plan of action for the next five years. <br />/s/ John L. Resolution adopted. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 68 -- 64 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />APPROVING UNDERTAKING OF SURVEYS AND P S FOR AN URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT AND FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE <br />INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION PROJECT AREA. <br />For Resolution,see pages 56 and 57. <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. Resolution adopted. <br />RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 10 OF THE YEAR 1962 ENTITLED A RESOLUTION APPROVING TWO ADDITIONAL TRACTS <br />OF LAND AS A PART OF PROPOSED LOW RENT HOUSING PROJECT IND. 15 - 3 WHICH TRACTS ARE LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF <br />FREMONT STREET BETWEEN BERGAN STREET AND MARQUETTE BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND. <br />Section I. Resolution No. 10 of the year 1962 entitled 'A Resolution Approving Two Additional <br />Tracts of Land as a Part of Proposed Low Rent Housing Project Ind. 15 - 3 Which <br />Tracts Are Located on the West Side of Fremont Street between Bergan Street and <br />Marquette Boulevard in the City of South Bend" be and is hereby repealed. <br />Section II. This resolution shall be effective upon the signatures of the President of the Common <br />Council and the Mayor for the city'of South Bend being affixed hereto. <br />/s/ Richard G. Geib <br />Member of Common Council <br />Councilman Geib made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution, Councilman Wise seconded the motion. <br />Motion lost by a roll call vote of 2 ayes (Councilmen Wise and Geib), 7 nays (Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, <br />Szymkowiak, Glass, Smith and Muszynski). <br />REPORT OF CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />The Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />May 12, 19 64 <br />The attached petition of the City Planning Commission to rezone from "B" Residential Use and "A" Height and <br />Area District to "A" Residential Use and "A" Height and Area District the property gdndrally described as an <br />area bounded on the northwest by Prairie Avenue, on the east by Morris Street and on the south by EwingAvenue <br />was legally advertised under date of April 27, 1964 and given public hearing on May 7, 1964. The.f6ll6wing <br />action was taken: <br />After due consideration the Commission found that the predominant use <br />in the subject area is single- family residential.
