ORGANIZATION MEETING JANUARY 6, 1964 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chambers in the <br />City Hall, January 6,1964, at 7:30 P.M. Mayor Lloyd M. Allen called the meeting to order and stated this <br />meeting was held in conformance with Article II, Section 21 of Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana.- <br />The following Councilmen were present: Councilman =At -Large Mrs. Janet Allen, Albert Palmer and John V. Wise, <br />First District Councilman Richard G. Geib; Second District Councilman Walter M. Szymkowiak; Third District <br />Councilman Walter G Glass; Fourth District Councilman John L. hunter Jr.; Fifth District Councilman Edwin T. <br />Smith and Sixth District Councilman Chester Muszynski. <br />Mayor Allen announced that nominations were now open for President of the Common Council. Councilman Geib '' <br />r<ofh1Aated Councilman Runter for President of the Council. Councilman Glass seconded the nomination. Councilman <br />Wise moved that the nominations be closed. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Mayor <br />announced those in favor of unanimous vote for Councilman Hunter for President of the Council signify by saying <br />Aye. <br />Mayor Allen announced that nominations were now open for Vice- President of the Common Council. Councilman <br />Szymkowiak nominated Councilman Wise for Vice - President. Councilman Glass seconded the nomination. Councilman <br />Smith moved that the nominations be closed_.- Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Mayor <br />announced those in favor of unanimous vote for Councilman Wise for Vice- President of the Council signify by <br />saying Aye. <br />Nominations for election of Chairman of Committee of the Whole were in order. Councilman Wise nominated <br />Councilman Smith for Chairman of Committee of the Whole. Councilman Glass seconded the nomination. Councilman <br />Geib moved that the nominations be closed. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman <br />Smith was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Committee of the Whole. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Smith made a motion to adjourn.
