Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, not in Regular Session in the Council <br />Chafers in the City Hall on Monday, July 9, 1962, at 9:48 P.M., with all members present. The meeting was called <br />to order by President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Telison, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski. <br />ABSENT: None <br />REPORT OF COMhIITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of-South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision -of the mtautes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />The Clerk read a communication from the American Municipal Association extending an invitation to the members of the <br />Council to attend the 39th Annual Municipal Congress to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Sheridan Hotel <br />on August 25 - 29, 1962. <br />Councilman Lehman made a motion that the Communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski secondei <br />the motion. Motion carried.- <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />To the Members of the n- Council <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />RE: Councilman Muezvnski's complaint - Truck Traffic <br />July 9, 1962 <br />Attached are copies of a Report from Inspector Cornelius Nicholas to the Board of Public Works and Safety and a lett <br />from the Northern Indiana Motor Carriers Association, Inc., with reference to the complaint concerning truck traffic <br />and violations through Swygart Street and Indiana Avenue between Prairie and Walnut. <br />This report was brought before the Board of Public Works and Safety at its meeting of July 9, 1962. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />/s/ Anthony J. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br />The Honorable Common Council <br />Civil City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />July 9, 1962 <br />At the June 25th Regular Meeting of the Council a request was made that I investigate a report that an industrial <br />coal yard was being built between Harris and Kosciuszko Streets South of Huron Street in the City of South Bead. <br />Our investigation revealed that there has been a coal yard located in the approximate area (1512 Western Avenue) <br />for a very long period of time. <br />Ww also learned that the property in question is zoned "E" Heavy Industrial which would permit construction of the <br />coal yard. <br />However, our investigation failed to show that the existing coal yard has been extended or is intended to be extern, <br />beyond the present and existing facilities. <br />
