COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING JULY 9. 1962 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in <br />the Council'Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, July 9, 1962, at 8:05 P.M., with all members present. The meeting <br />was called to order by Councilman, T. W. Lehman, Chairman, who presided. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1963 <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an <br />opportunity'to be heard thereon. <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the last item in the Building Department should be amended to read: "Sign and <br />Television Inspector $5,120.00". Councilman Krueper seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />The following persons were heard: Donald L. Carter, 918 South Twyckenham Drive, Vice President of the South Bend <br />Civic Planning Association, who read a communication regard the above Ordinance; Elmer L. Crowell, 2106 Portage <br />Avenue; Howard Warren, 1632 Linden Avenue; Mrs. Roman Guentert, 1608 N. Fremaon; Howard Goodhew, 1709 Kessler; <br />Councilman Allen; Dan Richardson, Street Commissioner; Councilman Allen; Councilman Krueper; Mr. Ralph Newman, <br />Park Department Superintendent; Councilman Ladewski; Councilman Glass; Virgil A. Place, 3223 Caroline Street; <br />Richard Kirkman, 1118 Queen Street; Councilman Kroll; Verner Lane, Building Commissioner; Miss Virginia Guthrie, <br />Executive Director of the South Bend Civic Planning. Association; Paul Boehm, Park Department; Councilman Krueper. <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion for a five minute recess. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Meeting recessed at 9:10 P.M. <br />The Committee of the Whole reconvened at 9 :44 P.M. <br />Councilman Allen made a motion that line 7 under -the Urban Redevelopment Commission be amended to read "Rehabilitat <br />Officer, $7,200.00" Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Allen made a motion that the Ordinance, as amended, be recommended favorably to the Council. Councilman <br />Kroll seconded the motion. 'Motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Vhole, Councilman Muszynski made a motim to <br />adjourn. Councilman Allen seconded the motion.
