REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25, 1962 recommendation that the recently annexed land being generally described as a parcel of land 620 feet north and :south by 290 feet east and west at the, northwest corner of Edison and Ironwood Roads be zoned "C -1" Commercial Use: After due consideration the Commission again found that in their opinion subject area should be zoned "C" Commercial Use. Councilman Allen seconded the motion Motion carried. Councilman Allen made a motion that the Council recess for five minutes. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Council recessed at 8 :58 P.M. The Council reconvened at 9:05 P.M. ORDINANCE NO. 4471 - - -62 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 AS HERETOFORE AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED (Northwest Corner of Edison and Ironwood) The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Coleman) REPORT OF CITY PLANNING COMMISSION June 20, 1962 The Honorable Common Council City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: Under date of June 14, 1962 the South Bend City Planning Commission took the following action relative to the proper zoning for the recently annexed land being generally described as a parcel of land on the west side of Ironwood Road 662 feet north and south by 290 feet east and west and lying 620 feet north of Edison Road; After due condieration the Commission found that due to the topography of the general area and the concurrent cost of filling, residential construction would be precluded and that only commercial enterprises could justify said cost of fill. The Commission also noted that the land immediately to the east., to the north, and particularly to the south of subject area is zoned "C" Commercial. It was therefore duly moved, seconded, and unanimously carried that said area be-recommended to be zoned "C" Commercial Use. Very truly yours, CITY PLANNING COMMISSION /s/ Robert L.
