<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE
<br />ISSUANCE AND SALE OF BONDS OF SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING
<br />FUNDS TO BE APPLIED ON THE COST OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF STORM,
<br />SANITARY AND OTHER SEWERS TO MAPLE ROAD FOR THE NORTHWEST INDUSTRIAL
<br />DEVELOPMENT AREA, AS WELL AS IN THE AREA OF LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD AND
<br />IROQUOIS AVENUE LOCATED NORTH OF THE ST, JOSEPH RIVER AND IN THE
<br />CHIPPEWA AVENUE AND IRELAND ROAD AREAS; ALSO, FOR THE ACQUIRING
<br />OF LANDS AND RIGHTS -OF -WAY FOR A NEW SAMPLE STREET BRIDGE AND FOR
<br />MAKING MAJOR THOROUGHFARE IMPROVEMENTS AND ACQUIRING OF RIGHTS -OF -WAY
<br />THEREFOR, TOGETHER WITH THE INCIDENTAL EXPENSES TO BE INCURRED IN
<br />CONNECTION THEREWITH.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion for
<br />suspension of rules. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8ayes, 0 nays,
<br />1 absent (Councilman Coleman). The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes,
<br />0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Coleman).
<br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING
<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE
<br />MILLION, ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,100.00.00) TO BE APPLIED
<br />ON THE COST OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF STORM, SANITARY AND OTHER SEWERS
<br />TO MAPLE ROAD FOR THE NORTHWEST INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AREA, AS WELL
<br />AS IN THE AREA OF LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD AND IROQUOIS AVENUE LOCATED NORTH

<br />carried. Public hearing ordered and notice to taxpayers by legal publication given as required by law.

<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that
<br />the Ordinance be set for public hearing on November 13, 1961. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion carried,

<br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN 1959 GENERAL STREET IMPROVEMENT
<br />FUND $2,317.21
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Lehman made a motion that the
<br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on November 13, 1961. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING
<br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT $500.00
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full, Councilman Lehman made a motion that the
<br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on November 13, 1961. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried.

<br />WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of South Bend is desirous of working more closely with the various
<br />appointed and elected officials of the City; and,
<br />WHEREAS, The Common Council wishes to become better informed of their activities, their plans, their
<br />budgets, and the general operations of the various departments.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Common Council of the City of South Bend, shall hold an informal
<br />meeting immediately prior to the.first Council meeting of each quarter, said meeting to be held
<br />at 6:00 P.M., at a place designated by the President of the Council.
<br />BE_.IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That there be invited to said meetings such appointed or elected officials as might
<br />be deemed necessary to assist in providing a better liaison between the Council and the various
<br />departments of the City.

<br />Councilman Krueper made a motion for adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion
<br />carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Coleman).
<br />NEW BUSINESS
<br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the Urban Redevelopment and Housing Committee of the Council, the Park Depart-
<br />ment Board, The Housing Authority and the Redevelopment Commissioners meet with Mr. Sucher in his office on Friday,
<br />October 13th, 1961, at 7:00 P.M.. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />Councilman Tellson remarked about the hazardous traffic situation on North Michigan Street at the entrance to
<br />Memorial Hospital by persons endeavoring to make a left turn into the Hospital entrance. He made a motion that this
<br />be referred to the Traffic and Transportation Committee of the Council. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion
<br />Motion carried.
