COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />JUNE 26, 1961 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in <br />the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, June 26th, 1961, at 8:08 P.M., with all members present except Council- <br />Coleman. The meeting was called to order by Councilman T. W. Lehman, Chairman, who presided. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY <br />KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA <br />(REAL ESTATE INVOLVED LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF <br />LINCOLNWAY WEST, BETWEEN IOWA AND RYER STREETS.) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an <br />opportunity to be heard thereon. J. Patrick O'Malley, Attorney for petitioners spoke in favor of the Ordinance. <br />There were no opponents.c- .Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. <br />Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE <br />BOARD OF HEALTH FUND $1000.00 <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an <br />opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Glass made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. <br />Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE - -- REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred An Ordinance creating an Official Building Code for the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion It should be <br />returned to the Council for first and second reading and set for public hearing. <br />/s/ T. Councilman Allen seconded the motion.I <br />Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />To the Common Council, <br />City of,South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Committee of the Whole <br />s <br />June 26, 1961 <br />Due to a death and illness in my family, I am unable to be present at tonight's meeting of the Common Council.' <br />If it pleases the Council. I ask that my position regarding the proposed Ordinance Adopting a Building Code for <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana, be read My position is that I urge that the proposed Ordinance be given first', <br />and second reading and set for public hearing in the Committee of the Whole July 10, 1961. I feel that the adoption <br />of the proposed code as it is in essence is in the best interests of the City of South Bend. <br />Thank you. Respectfully submitted, <br />Harold L.
