Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council <br />Chambers on Thursday, April 27, 1961, at 12 :10 P.M., with all members present. The meeting was called to order by <br />President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. <br />The Clerk then read the call for a Special Meeting. <br />CALL FOR A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />We, the undersigned members of the Common Council, hereby call a Special Meeting of the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, to convene at the Council Chambers at the City Hall at 12 noon, on the 27th day of April, 1961, <br />for the purpose of taking action on the following: <br />APPROVING A SITE OR SITES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LOW RENT HOUSING PROJECT <br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice <br />on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting. <br />Dated this 25th day of April, 1961. <br />/s/ T. Motion carried. <br />ROLL CALL <br />P V Q 0T MP T ANT <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski <br />ABSENT: None <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING TWO SITES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LOW RENT HOUSING <br />PROJECT CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY -FIVE (185) UNITS, AND <br />IN NO EVENT EXCEEDING TWO HUNDRED (200) UNITS, THE FIRST COMPRISING APPROXI- <br />MATELY FIVE (5) ACRES OF LAND CONSISTING OF A TRIANGULAR PARCEL OF LAND BETWEEN <br />WESTERN AVENUE AND THE NEW YORK CENTRAL RIGHT OF WAY WEST OF LAUREL STREET, IN <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA; AND THE SECOND SITE CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY <br />SEVEN AND FIVE - TENTHS (7.5) ACRES OF LAND LYING NORTH OF SOUTH BEND AVENUE AND <br />COMPRISING EIGHTEEN (18) LOTS IN THE HARTMAN AND WOODWORTH ADDITION TO THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND A RECTANGULAR PARCEL OF LAND ONE HUNDRED NINETY -THREE <br />(193) FEET IN DEPTH NORTH AND SOUTH, AND APPROXIMATELY ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED <br />FEET IN LENGTH, EAST AND WEST, LYING NORTH OF NAPOLEAN STREET BETWEEN WHAT WOULD <br />BE THE EAST LINE OF GEORGIANNA IF EXTENDED, AND WHAT WOULD BE THE EAST LINE OF <br />LOT NUMBERED THIRTY -ONE (31) IN THE HARTMAN AND WOODWORTH ADDITION, IF EXTENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana, has heretofore entered into a Cooperation Agreement with <br />The Housing Authority of the City of South Bend, Indiana; <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of said Cooperation Agreement, The Housing Authority of South <br />Bend, Indiana, has requested the City of South Bend, Indiana, to approve a site comprising approximately Five (5) <br />acres of land located in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana; and described as follows, to -wit: <br />A parcel of land bounded by a line starting at a point where the West line of Laurel <br />Street intersects the Northerly line of the right of way line of the New York Central <br />Railroad; thence North to a point where the West line of Laurel Street intersects the <br />South line of Western Avenue; thence West along the South line of Western Avenue, a <br />distance of approximately One Hundred Eighty (180) feet; thence Southwesterly along <br />the center line of the abandoned right of way of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad <br />Company to a point where said center line intersects with the Northerly right of <br />way line of the New York Central Railroad; thence Southeasterly along the Northerly <br />right of way line of said New York Central Railroad to the point of beginning, <br />containing in all approximately Five (5) acres, <br />and also to approve a site comprising approximately Seven and Five - Tenths (7.5) acres of land, as follows, to -wit: <br />A parcel of land lying North of South Bend Avenue and comprising Eighteen (18) lots <br />in the Hartman and Woodworth Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana, and a <br />rectangular parcel of land One Hundred Ninety -three (193) feet in depth North and <br />South, and approximately One Thousand Two Hundred Feet (1,200') in length, East and <br />West, lying North of Napolean Street between what would be the East line of Georgianna, <br />if extended, and what would be the East line of Lot Numbered Thirty -one (31) if the <br />Hartman and Woodworth Addition extended, <br />for the purpose of constructing thereon a low -rent housing project consisting of approximately One Hundred Eighty- <br />
