na:yua.nic c�utlLVV JULY 11, LVOV <br />Councilman Muszynski commended the Health Vepartment on their promptness in complying with the request of the <br />Council to direct the New York Central Railroad to cut weeds at the Ford and Harris intersections. Councilman Mus- <br />zynski then made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />(REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />Members of the Common Council <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />July 11, 1960 <br />Re: Petition to State Highway Department to <br />install traffic signals at the intersection <br />of Sample and Mayflower Road <br />At the request of this department, another traffic ount and survey was made at Sample Street (SR 223) and Mayflower <br />Road (SR 123) on June 13, 1960. <br />I received a report from Mr. E. M. Davis, Traffic Engineer for the LaPorte District of the Indiana State Highway <br />Department, in which he stated that using rural warrants, which are lower than urban warrants, there is not justifi- <br />cation for the installation of traffic signals at this intersection. Therefore, the request and petition is rejected. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />ts/ Clem F. Hazinski <br />CLEM F. HAZINSKI <br />Traffic Engineer <br />CFH /f <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Allen seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />City Attorney Irving J. Smith, made the following oral report for the Board of Public Works and Safety: <br />Mr. Smith stated that he wished to advise the Council that the Board of Public Works and Safety in their regular <br />meeting directed the Street Department Commissioner that the first item of business when they returned to work on <br />Monday morning will be the oiling of West Washington Street. This is appropo of the direction of the Council last <br />meeting when they promised to aleviate conditions on West Washington Street. <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN GENERAL FUND <br />$14,662.26 AND STREET AND TRAFFIC FUND $1,200.00, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in <br />their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. <br />July 11, 1960 /s/ T. W. Lehman, Chairman <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Lehman seconded the <br />motion.
