PETITION <br />Petition to rezone land located at 1853 Randolph Street. <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the petition be referred to the City'Planning Commission. Councilman Coleman <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />Petition containing 37 signatures asking the City Street Department to take action on correcting the water situation <br />in the alley between Miner Street and Sorin Street and from Jacob Street to Twyckenham Drive. <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the petition be referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety for attention. <br />Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />South Bend Common Council <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />In regards to the petition referred to the Board of Works & Safety requesting the improvement of the end of the <br />alley on Howard Street from Lawrence to Hill Streets by street lighting, the Board has referred said matter to the <br />City Electrical Department for investigation and report back to the Board. Further, the petition containing 494 <br />signatures requesting a traffic light at the intersection of Mayflower and Sample Streets was referred to the <br />Traffic Engineering Department for study and report back to the Board. <br />Thanking you, I remain, <br />Sincerely, <br />/s/ Anthony J. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />Members of the South Bend Common Council <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />April 13, 1960 <br />On Monday, April 11, 1960, at a regular Common Council meeting, a motion was made by Councilman Tellson that a study <br />b.e made by this,.department to determine the need for a loading zone at the Central Public Library. <br />A study indicates that a loading zone, in the true sense of the word, is not needed as provisions for loading have <br />been made at the rear of the building. Installation of a. loading zone would. mean the elimination of several much <br />needed parking spaces. Two of these spaces are of the 12 minute type for the convenience of library patrons. Also, <br />past experience shows that loading zones for passengers are not patronized, but rather used by motorists to load or <br />unload from the traveled lane so as to not be inconvenienced by maneuvering in and out of that zone. <br />A loading zone is not recommended. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />/s/ Clem F. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PROTECTION OF POLICE REPORTING <br />SYSTEM AND PROHIBITING THE USE OF SAID REPORTING SYSTEM FOR ANY PURPOSE OTHER THAN MATTERS PERTAINING TO POLICE OR <br />FIREMEN, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED <br />FAVORABLE. <br />/s/ T. W. Lehman, Chairman <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4315 - - -60 <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOP. THE PROTECTION OF POLICE REPORTING SYSTEM AND PROHIBITING THE <br />USE OF SAID REPORTING SYSTEM FOR ANY PURPOSE OTHER THAN MATTERS PERTAINING TO POLICE OR FIREMEN <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
