REGULAR MEETING <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />APRIL 13, 1959 <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING: <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole, in <br />the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, April 13, 1959, at 8 :01 P.M., with all members present. The meeting <br />was called to order by Chairman Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN'ORDINANCE FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA (Clay Township) <br />Sul <br />Mr. Raymond Andrysiak, City Engineer, explained the area to be annexed in the proposed Ordinance. He spoke in <br />favor of the passage of the Ordinance and explained his reasons why he favored annexation. He explained the sewage <br />plans and water to be furnished. <br />Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this Ordinance. <br />The following were heard stating their objections to the annexation: <br />Mr. Charles E. Larson, 17037 E. Bulla <br />James Brattina, 54776 28th Street <br />Morris Hoffman, 2610 S. Twyckenham Drive <br />Mr: B: Stutsman, 54095 Terrace Lane <br />Mr. R. E. Smith, 54691 N. 27th Street <br />President of Iioosier Suburbia <br />Attorney for the Clay Township Action Committee <br />17523 Hepler Drive <br />President, Maple Lane P.T.A. <br />Read a letter from Dr. How, St. Joseph County <br />Health Officer <br />President, P.T.A. <br />Speaking in favor of the annexation was Mr. Earl Kime, Manager of the Portage Realty Corporation, 1019 South <br />Michigan. <br />In Rebuttal the following were heard: <br />Iir. 0. Elkins, 17415 i cErlain Street <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the Ordinance be kept in the Committee of the Whole for further study and <br />the time of the next public hearing will be legally advertised. <br />Councilman Christman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Korpal made a motion to adjourn. <br />Councilman Erhardt seconded the motion.
