<br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS I, II, III, IV, VI AND VIII OF
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 4207 ENTITLED'71AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE OF SEWAGE SERVICE CHARGES TO ALL USERS OF CITY
<br />SEWER SERVICE OR CITY WATER SERVICE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIR AND /OR REPLACEMENT OF WATER SERVICE LINES, SHUT -OFF
<br />BOXES AND WATER METER MANHOLES." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion
<br />it should be reported favorable as amended.

<br />Councilman Erhardt made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded

<br />ORDINANCE NO. 4259 - - -59
<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE MILLION
<br />DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) TO BE APPLIED TO THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION, RE- CONSTRUCTION
<br />AND IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS, AND EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.
<br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays.
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 4260 - - -59
<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS I, II, III, IV, VI AND VIII OF ORDINANCE NO. 4207,
<br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE OF SEWAGE SERVICE CHARGES TO ALL
<br />USERS OF CITY SEWER SERVICE OR CITY WATER SERVICE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIR AND /OR
<br />REPLACEMENT OF WATER SERVICE LINES, SHUT -OFF BOXES AND WATER METER MANHOLES.(AS AMENDED)
<br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, O nays.
<br />OLD BUSINESS:
<br />Councilman Kroll asked the City Engineer what was berg done about the bad railroad Crossings. Mr. Andrysiak,
<br />Engineer stated that he has been in contact with the railroad Officials and they have assured him that they are
<br />guaging their work according to the eather conditions but that theyhope to start something within the next ten
<br />C ity
<br />days
<br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that a'cease and desist order be issued against the Bremen Iron and Metal Company.
<br />Mr. Smith, City Attorney, stated that a cease and desist order had been issued but that the Bremen Iron and Metal
<br />Company had not complied with it and that an affidavit is now being prepared against them.
<br />Councilman Kroll asked about violations of inter -city trucks and Mr. Smith, City Attorney, suggested that an
<br />officer be on Olive Street twenty -four hours a day for the next two weeks to check violations and that another
<br />officer be assigned to roam the entire area twenty -four hours a day and that a report of arrests made and dis-
<br />positions be made at the next Council meeting.
<br />NEW BUSINESS:
<br />Mr. George Sage, 1016 S. Lafayette Blvd., was protesting the removal of two -hour parking signs in front of his
<br />home and in the neighborhood. He filed petitons protesting this action. Councilman Erler suggested that the
<br />petitions be referred to the transportation Committee for study. A meeting of the traffic committee with Clem.F.
<br />Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, is scheduled for 7 P.M., Thursday, February 26th in the Police Classroom.
<br />Councilman Tellson submitted two names of persons selected to represent the people of Eisenhower Drive who are re-
<br />questing information as to how to remove excess water from the streets in their neighborhood. The names were
<br />John U. Salas, 2442 Eisenhower Drive and Peter Smith, Jr., 2802 Eisenhower Drive. Mr. Andrysiak, City Engineer
<br />was asked to write to these men and advise them of the sewer situation in their area.
<br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn. Councilman
<br />Erler seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Regular Meeting of the Common Council adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
