REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE: <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE CONTRACT BETWEEN BOARD OF WATER WORKS <br />COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AND CLYDE E. WILLIAMS & ASSOCIATES, INC., DATED AUGUST 25, 1958, FOR SURVEY <br />AND STUDY OF WATER SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opin <br />it should be reported favorable. <br />/s/ W. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE: <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZIP <br />ISSUANCE AND SALE OF BONDS OF SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS TO BE APPLIED TO THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION, <br />RE- CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS, AND EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, Respectfully report that <br />they have examined the matter and that in their opinion it should be continued to the next Regular Meeting of the <br />Council. <br />/s/ W. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4245 - -58 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE CONTRACT BETWEEN BOARD OF WATER WORKS COMMISSIONERS <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND CLYDE E. WILLIAMS & ASSOCIATES, INC., DATED <br />AUGUST 25, 1958, FOR SURVEY AND STUDY OF WATER SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call.vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Carr). <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4246 - -58 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF HOKE STREET IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FROM <br />THE INTERSECTION OF ALTGELD STREET SOUTH TO THE END OF WILMORE HILLS SECTION A, <br />TO SOUTH WOODMONT DRIVE. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, <br />I absent (Councilman Carr). The Ordinance was then given th ir d reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, <br />0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Carr.) <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4247 - -58 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF ALBERT STREET IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />BETWEEN MICHIGAN STREET AND MAIN STREET TO BARBIE STREET. ° <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Hahn made a motion for sus- <br />pension of rules. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, <br />I absent (Councilman Carr). The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, <br />0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Carr). <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the Traffic Engineer make a survey of all safety islands and put safety re- <br />flectors on all islands. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motiai carried. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the next Regular Meeting of the Council be held on October 14, 1958. Councilman <br />Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Glass asked the Clerk to write to the City Council in Aurora, Illinois, and request a copy of the Ordinanc <br />which they recently passed, in regard to Motor Scooters. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Councilman Tellson asked the City Engineer what had been done in regard to the New Jersey Railroad. Councilman <br />Christman stated that the Councilman had been derelict in their duty in that they had not complied with the request <br />of the City Engineer to complete a questionaire sent by the Engineer in regard to complaints received by the Council- <br />men about railroad crossings. Mr. Christman asked the Councilmen to complete the questionaires and return them to <br />Mr. Andrysiak so that he would be able to have a meeting with the railroad officials to clear this matter. <br />Mr. Kroll reported on the traffic Committee. He stated that trucks have been traveling on other streets in the area <br />of Olive Street. He advised the Council that he had met with the Traffic Engineer and the Traffic Engineer would <br />draw up an Ordinance and the Traffic Committee would then examine the Ordinance in order to decide what will be <br />done to aleviate this problem. Another meeting will be held in the next two weeks or so and then a report will be <br />given to the Council. Councilman Glass made a motion that the report be accepted:and placed on file. Councilman <br />Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Kroll then made a motion that the Board of Public Works and Safety be directed to have the Police Departmen <br />enforce the existing Ordinance in regard to trucks and keep the trucks off the Muck streets. Councilman Muszynski <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn.
