AUGUST 11, 1958 <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING: <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole on <br />Monday, August 11, 1958 at 8 :03 p.m., with all members present excepting Councilman Carr. Councilman Hahn, acting <br />Chairman, called the meeting to order and presided. <br />ORDINANCE: <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF, SOUTH BEND <br />INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS <br />Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Councilman Korpal made a motion <br />that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE: <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -11 PERSONAL SERVICES <br />THE SUM OF $5,700.00 TO POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -214 TELEPHONE AND TELEPGRAPH <br />$1,000.00; TO POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -331 GASOLINE $4,000.00; TO POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -332 OIL $700.00; AND FROM CONTROLLER/'S OFFICE GENERAL FUND <br />THE SUM OF $2,500.00 TO CONTROLLER's OFFICE ACCOUNT B -59, SOCIAL SECURITY $2,500.00 <br />ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 1958 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND <br />DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. <br />Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Councilman Kroll made a motion <br />that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Hotion carried. <br />ORDINANCE: <br />AN ORDINANCE PROTECTING THE PUBLIC HEALTH, PROVIDING FOR THE CUTTING OF WEEDS <br />AND DISPOSAL THEREOF, INCLUDING NUISANCES AND PROVIDING FO1k THEIR ABATEMENT <br />AND MATTERS RELATING THERETO. <br />Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Councilman Korpal made a motion <br />that the ordinance should be amended as follows: "Wherever the ordinance mentions weeds, grass, or .deleterious <br />unhealthful growths, there shall be added thereto 'over 12 inches high. "' Councilman Kroll seconded the motion to <br />amend the ordinance. Motion carried. Councilman Korpal moved that the ordinance go to the Council favorable, as <br />amended. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Christman made a motion to adjourn. <br />Councilman Kroll seconded the motion.
