REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 10, 1958 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council <br />Chambers, Monday, March 10, 1958, at 8:14 P.M., with all members present. The meeting was called to order by <br />President Stanley C. Korpal, who presided. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Korpal, Carr, Tellson, Christman, Kroll, Glass, Hahn, Erler and Muszynski. <br />ABSENT: None. <br />MINUTES: <br />Report of Committee on Minutes <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Councilman Kroll seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />Petition of John Pence to rezone land at the Northwest corner of Lincolnway West and Johnson Street. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Kroll <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />NORTHWEST DEMOCRATIC AND CIVIC CLUB, INC <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />South Bend City Council February 28, 1958 <br />c/o City Clerk <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />At our recent club meeting, our membership passed a motion opposing fluoridation of our city water. <br />Everyone who had anything to say, had an opportunity to be heard, and there were many and varied reasons to oppose <br />fluoridation ... but the often repeated reason was that with 11% of the working force of the community out of work and' <br />many on a reduced work week, it is hardly the time to be spending tax payers money on anything new, especially when <br />the end result is debatable. <br />Thanking you for your attention and consideration in this matter, we are, <br />Respectfully yours, <br />/s/ Joseph A. Mo ti on carried. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />Copy to City Council <br />Northern Indiana Transit Company February 24, 1958 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Why have you taken the 9:10 bus off the Lincolnway and Beacon Heights line on Saturday Morning? <br />You know, we sales people all have to work Saturdays, and the way you have the Saturday schedule now, makes it <br />impossible for us to get to work on time or much too early to go to work. <br />Your Beacon Heights bus leaves at 9:20, the Ardmore leaves the end of the line at 9:15, both buses arriving down <br />town after 9:30. <br />Why can't you schedule the Beacon Heights bus the same as work days. <br />We are forwarding a copy of this letter to our city council. <br />Respectfully yours, <br />Signed by Gladys Carey, 1301 North Olive Street, and 11 others. <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the communication be referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />Councilman Hahn seconded the motion.
