<br />(OLD ORDINANCE TITLE)
<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE
<br />AND SALE OF BONDS OF SAID CITY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE COST OF
<br />ACQUISITION BY PURCHASE OF CERTAIN IMPROVED REAL PROPERTY, KNOWN AS THE
<br />PALAIS ROYALE, FOR USE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ADJOINING CITY -OWNED PRO-
<br />PERTY KNOWN AS THE CIVIC AUDITORIUM, FOR USE AS AN AUDITORIUM AND A
<br />PUBLIC HALL FOR ASSEMBLIES, EXHIBITS, CONVENTIONS, ENTERTAINMENTS, AND
<br />FOR RECREATIONAL AND OTHER LAWFUL PURPOSES, GOVERNMENTAL AND CORPORATE
<br />OR PROPRIETARY, AND THE REMODELING AND IMPROVEMENTS OF SUCH BUILDINGS
<br />FOR SUCH.PURPOSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE INSTALLATION OF
<br />HEATING, VENTILATING AND AIR - CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT; THE ACQUISITION,
<br />IMPROVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF LAND AS A SITE FOR A CIVIC CENTER; THE
<br />CONSTRUCTION OF STREETS, CURBS, SIDEWALKS, AND SEWERS, INCLUDING THE
<br />ACQUISITION OF ANY NECESSARY LAND, EASEMENTS AND RIGHTS -OF -WAY IN CON-
<br />NECTION THEREWITH; AND, TO THE EXTENT OF FUNDS REMAINING, THE ACQUISI-
<br />TION OF LAND AS A SITE FOR AND THE CONSTRUCTION AND EQUIPMENT OF A
<br />FIRE STATION; TOGETHER WITH THE EXPENSES IN CONNECTION WITH ALL OF THE
<br />FOREGOING INCLUDING ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURAL, APPRAISAL, ABSTRACTING,
<br />TITLE INSURANCE, AND LEGAL FEES, AND THE EXPENSES AND LEGAL FEES IN-
<br />CIDENTAL TO THE ISSUANCE OF SAID BONDS.
<br />Councilman Reinke made a motion to disapprove the petition (shown below) for bonds in the amount
<br />of $2,030,000, seconded by Councilman Grounds. Motion carried.
<br />" PETITION REQUESTING ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE "
<br />CITY OF.SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND:
<br />The undersigned, owners of taxable real estate located in the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, and residing at the address in said City appearing opposite their signatures
<br />below, do hereby respectfully petition the Common Council of said City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to issue bonds of said City in an amount not to exceed Two Million Thirty
<br />Thousand Dollars ($2,030,000) for the purpose of procuring funds to be applied on the
<br />cost of acquisition by purchase of certain improved real property, known as the Palais
<br />Royale, for use in conjunction with the adjoining city -owned property known as the
<br />Civic Auditorium, for use as an auditorium and a public hall for assemblies, exhibits,
<br />conventions, entertainments, and for recreational and other lawful purposes, govern-
<br />mental and corporate or proprietary, and the remodeling and improvement of such build-
<br />ings for such purposes, including but not limited to the installation of heating, ven-
<br />tilating and air - conditioning equipment; the acquisition, improvement and development
<br />of land as a site for a civic center; the construction of streets, curbs, sidewalks,
<br />and sewers, including the acquisition of any necessary land, easements and rights -of-
<br />way in connection therewith; and, to the extent of funds remaining, the acquisition of
<br />land as a site for and the construction and equipment of a fire station; together with
<br />the expenses in connection with all of the foregoing including engineering, architec-
<br />tural, appraisal, abstracting, title insurance, and legal fees, and the expenses and
<br />legal fees incidental to the issuance of said bonds.
<br />This petition may be circulated in several counterparts, and all of such counter-
<br />" parts shall be considered as constituting one petition. It
<br />Councilman Reinke made a motion to approve and proceed with the petition for bonds in the amount
<br />of $1,630,000, as follows, seconded by Councilman Craven. Motion carried.

<br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND:
<br />The undersigned, owners of taxable reas estate located in the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, and residing at the address in said City appearing opposite their signatures
<br />below, do hereby respectfully petition the Common Council of said City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to issue bonds of said City in an amount not to exceed One Million Six Hun-
<br />dred Thirty Thousand Dollars ($1,630,000) for the purpose of procuring funds to be
<br />applied on the cost of the improvement of the City owned property known as the Morris
<br />Civic Auditorium, including but not limited to the installation of heating, ventila-
<br />tilating and air - conditioning equipment; the acquisition, improvement and development
<br />of land as a site for a civic center within an area bounded by Michigan Street, Wayne
<br />Street, LaSalle Street and the St. Joseph River, the construction of streets, curbs,
<br />sidewalks, and sewers, including the acquisition of any necessary land, easements and
<br />rights -of -way in connection therewith within an area North of Lincolnway West, West of
<br />Bendix Drive, and South of the Northern Indiana Toll Road, all within the City of South
<br />Bend, Indiana; and to the extent of funds remaining, the acquisition of land as a site
<br />for and the construction and equipment of a fire station; together with the expenses in
<br />connection with all of the foregoing including engineering, architectural, appraisal,
<br />abstracting, title insurance, and legal fees, and the expenses and legal fees inci-
<br />dental to the issuance of said bonds.
