REGULAR MEETING JULY 26, 1971 <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING (Continued) <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20, ARTICLE I, OF THE <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, MUNICIPAL CODE, 1962, AS <br />AMENDED <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mr. Forrest West, Building Commissioner <br />for the City of South Bend, stated that HUD stated that the 1964 BOCA Article 5030 -68 adopted <br />Section H 102.1, which was deleted. That particular section of the code was established for <br />mobile home parks and subdivisions not now covered. Miss Guthrie stated that the City does now <br />have mobile home parks and subdivisions. Mr. West agreed and stated that the proposed ordinance <br />would reinstate that which was deleted (in other words, delete the deletion.) Councilman Reinke <br />made a motion to adopt the ordinance as favorable, seconded by Council President Laven. Motion <br />carried. 8 ayes, 1 absent (Councilman Zielinski). <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES OF APPOINTED <br />OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />FOR THE YEAR 1972, AS AMENDED. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Manager for the Water Works, stated that the E.D.P. Manager classifica- <br />tion was established last year at $10,000 and classification of Computer Programmer at $7,800. <br />He stated that the split in that category of $7;200;,$7,800 and $8,600 was to provide a career <br />ladder for water works personnel and that these salaries were not out of line with what industry <br />is paying.. Miss Guthrie said, "Thanks for the dent, even though small, for tax relief." She <br />stated that the South Bend School Corporation gave a 1.491. increase to teachers; the County <br />Council ave $200 00 or a 5/ increase across the board. Glenn L. Barbe, Associate Director of <br />Redevelopment spoke in defense of the budget of Redevelopment. <br />
