5:`74 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 24, 1971 <br />RESOLUTIONS (Continued) <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLICATION WITH <br />THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, <br />UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR A GRANT UNDER P.L. 89 -117 <br />Public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. David Wells, Sanitary Engineer, explaine< <br />the need for the resolution, stating this would authorize the city to apply for $500,000 in fed- <br />eral funds from H.U.D. for a storm sewage separation project in the Model Cities area. The city <br />is resubmitting an application since the former one was denied because there was no public housinc <br />in the area. Council President Laven and Councilman Allen recommended this resolution be held <br />over for a later meeting. Councilman Grounds and Council President Laven stated they would rather <br />do the Clyde Creek area sewer first instead of the Model Cities area because of the flooding con- <br />ditions that exist there. Councilman Allen made a motion that action be delayed on the resolution <br />until the next meeting. Council President Laven stepped down from the chair and seconded it. <br />Councilman Allen stated that she is making this motion because she believed the money should go <br />to the Clyde Creek area. Motion was defeated. 4 ayes, 4 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Wise) <br />Councilman Craven made a motion for the adoption of the resolution, Councilman Szymkowiak <br />seconded it. Motion was defeated by a roll call of 4 ayes, 4 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Wise) <br />Councilman Allen reconsidered her vote and changed it to aye and moved for reconsideration of the <br />resolution on or before June 14, 1971, seconded by Councilman Craven. Motion carried. <br />7 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Craven, Reinke, Grounds, Palmer and Zielinski) 1 nay(Council- <br />man Szymkowiak) 1 absent (Councilman Wise) <br />There being no further business before the Council, Council President Laven entertained a motion <br />for adjournment. Councilman Reinke so moved, seconded by Councilman Zielinski. Motion carried. <br />Time: 11:50 P.M. <br />ATTEST: <br />APPROVED: <br />IDENT <br />
