In reply to Councilman Laven's inquiry as to what the use of
this site will be in the downtown renewal program, Mr. B. 0. Ashenfelter, executive director of
the Redevelopment Department, said it has a retail credit use involved but could be changed.
City Engineer Taylor said the building roof was in bad condition and the building was in need
of many repairs. He also stated that for the transfer and demolition the city will be given
$263,712 in non -cash credits by the federal government, which means the city will get about
$750,000 in grants for downtown renewal. Attorney Parker said the two parcels of real estate
involved are one parcel which was formerly used and occupied by the Water Works on Lincoln Way
and Washington Streets and the site which was formerly used and occupied by the city as a City
Hall and parking lot.
