REGULAR MEETING - RECONVENED <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, reconvened in the <br />Council Chambers in the County -City Building on Tuesday, September 1, 1970 at 3:01 a.m., all <br />members present. The meeting was called to order by Council - President Robert 0. Laven, who <br />presided. <br />REPORTS OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Council President Laven entertained a motion to waive the reading of the Committee of the Whole <br />Reports. Councilman Allen so moved. Councilman Zielinski seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />ORDINANCES, THIRD READING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5226 -70 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONEYS FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF <br />THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1971, AND <br />ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1971, INCLUDING ALL OUTSTANDING <br />CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE <br />SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT, AS AMENDED. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Grounds made a motion for adoption of the <br />amendments. Councilman Craven seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Grounds made a <br />motion, seconded by Councilman Craven, for passage'.of the ordinance. There being no discussion <br />on the motion, the ordinance was passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, (Councilmen Laven, Allen, <br />Reinke, Craven, Grounds+Szymkowiak, Palmer and Zielinski) 1 nay, (Councilman Wise) 0 absent. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5227 -70 <br />AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TA4ES AND FIXING THE RATE OF <br />TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE TO <br />MEET THE NECESSARY EXPENSE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR <br />ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1971, AS AMENDED. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Craven made a motion for adoption of the <br />amendments. Councilman Reinke seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Craven made a <br />motion, seconded by Councilman Reinke, for passage of the ordinance. There being no discussion <br />on the motion, the ordinance was passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, (Councilmen Laven, Allen, <br />Reinke, Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Palmer and Zielinski) 1 nay, (Councilman Wise) 0 absent. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Council President Laven entertained <br />a motion for adjournment.
