0 <br />SPECIAL MEETING JULY 20, 1970 <br />IIORDINANCES, THIRD READING <br />IIORDINANCE NO. 5214 -70 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF FIREMEN FOR <br />THE CALENDAR YEAR 1971. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Zielinski made a motion for passage of the <br />Ordinance. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. There being no discussion on the motion, the <br />Ordinance was passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, <br />Grounds, Szymkowiak, Palmer and Zielinski) 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Wise). <br />IIORDINANCE NO. 5215 -70 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED <br />OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1971, AS AMENDED <br />The Ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Craven made a motion to approve the amendments. <br />Councilman Grounds seconded the motion. Motion carried. 8 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, <br />Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Palmer and Zielinski) 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Wise). Council- <br />man Reinke made a motion for passage of the Ordinance, as amended. Councilman Craven seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. There being no discussion on the motion, the Ordinance, as amended, <br />was passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Grounds, <br />Szymkowiak, Palmer and Zielinski) A nays, 1 absent (Councilman Wise). <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Zielinski moved for <br />adjournment. Councilman Reinke seconded the motion. Motion carried. Laven, who presided. Councilman Laven <br />instructed the Clerk to read the Notice of Special Meeting of the Common Council that was sent <br />to each Councilman. <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: <br />You are notified that there will be a meeting of the Common Council of the City of South Bend <br />on July 20, 1970, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at the County -City Building in the City <br />of South Bend. The purpose of the meeting will be to consider the approval of a contract between <br />the City of South Bend and the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the United States, <br />which contract is commonly referred to as Model Cities Program. Allen <br />Mayor <br />Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Grounds <br />Szymkowiak, Palmer and Zielinski. <br />Councilman Wise. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND APPROVING THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND COMPREHENSIVE <br />DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF <br />A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend desires to carry out a comprehensive city demonstra- <br />tion program (herein referred to as the "Program ", attached hereto and made a part hereof) <br />with Federal financial assistance under Title I of the Demonstration Cities and Metropolitan <br />Development Act of 1966 (herein called "Act "); <br />WHEREAS, the Act requires local governing body approval of the Program as a condi- <br />tion for eligibility for assistance; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend that: <br />SECTION I. The Program, including the projects and activities set forth in the <br />grant agreement, is hereby approved. <br />
