It represents 38% of the total proposed rate increase.
We have been meeting with business and industrial representatives and members of other organizations as
well as our own members to discuss the budgets and rates and possible reductions.
It is apparent from your announcement of budget and rate reductions that you too are cognizant of the concern
expressed by so many taxpayers, and your reductions will certainly set an example for the rest of the
appropriating bodies.
We appreciated the opportunity we had to meet with you and review the rates and budgets in detail. It was
most interesting to learn that the Council and the Civic Planning Association had, in so many instances, the
same items to be reduced, and sometimes in the same amounts. Because of this we do not intend to again
review these same items but will make additional recommendations as the individual departments are being
discussed.
Respectfully,
SOUTH BEND CIVIC PLANNING ASSN. Inc.
Byron W. Faust, President
