RK PKE5IDENT \ _ <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET ORDINANCE FOR 1969 <br />Be it remembered that members of the Common Council met in the Council Chambers in City Hall on August 2, 1968 <br />at 8 :00 P.M., with seven members present, Councilmen Laven,.Allen, Craven, Reinke, Grounds, Szymkowiak, and <br />Zielinski. Two absent, Councilmen Wise and Palmer. In accordance with a custom set in the past few years, the <br />meeting was called for the purpose of an informal public hearing on the proposed budget for 1969. The meeting <br />was called to order by Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, William W. Grounds. <br />Each department was considered separately and speaking on the proposed budget were the following: Mayor Lloyd <br />M. Allen, Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend Civic Planning Association; City Controller, <br />James. A. Bickel, Bruce Bancroft of the Jaycees, Kathryn L. Blough, City Clerk; Arthur Frisk, City Attorney;, <br />Lloyd Taylor, City Engineer; Forrest West, Building Commissioner; Cecil McHenry, Fire Chief, A recess was called <br />at 9:15 P.M. Reconvened at 9 :30 P.M. Speaking further on the budget were: Thomas McNaughton, Chief of Police; <br />and John L. Hunter, Superintendent of the Water Works; and Richard Duck, Superintendent of the Municiple Services <br />Facility. Speaking against the Ordinance was Mrs. Leonard Malicki, 903 Sylvan Lane. <br />The Meeting was adjourned at 11 :40 P.M., August 2, 1968. <br />ATTEST: <br />APPROVED: <br />CHAIRMAN <br />
