REGULAR MEETING JULY 8, 1968 <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would respectfully report that they have <br />examined the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Palmer <br />Meeting of June 24, 1968 <br />There being no objections, the report was accepted as read, and placed on file. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF THREE <br />PARCELS OF REAL ESTATE LOCATED IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND OWNED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA ". <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the Ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. <br />/s /: ,William W. Grounds <br />Chairman <br />There being no objection, the report was accepted as read, and placed on file. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $5,000.00 FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />TO ACCOUNT B -53, "REFUNDS, AWARDS AND INDEMNITIES" IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CONTROLLER ". <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the Ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. <br />/s/ William W. Grounds <br />Chairman <br />There being no objection, the report was accepted as read, and placed on file. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 40 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 4608 -63 <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ". (Crumstown Hwy. & Bendix Dr.) <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the Ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. <br />/s/ William W. Grounds <br />Chairman <br />There being no objection, the report was accepted as read, and placed on file. <br />PETITION <br />TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY: We petition your honorable body to do whatever is necessary to <br />alleviate flooding conditions during heavy rains due to the overflow of the Clyde Creek. The devastation <br />caused by this creek in the last heavy rain fall is extensive, and the need for corrective measures is <br />imperative. <br />/s/ Residents of Surrounding Area <br />Mr. Charles R. Fenner, 1809 Randolph Street, read the above petition to the Members of the Common Council, <br />and thanked the Board of Public Works and Safety for their assistance in sending help to clean up the debris <br />from the recent storm. Petition was accepted as read and referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />ORDINANCES, THIRD READING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5019 -68 <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND <br />CONVEYANCE OF THREE PARCELS OF REAL <br />ESTATE LOCATED IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, AND OWNED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 5 ayes, (Councilmen Laven, Craven) <br />Reinke, Grounds, Palmer). 3 nays, (Councilman Allen, Szymkowiak and Zielinski). 1 absent, Mr. Wise. <br />Councilman Allen voted no and felt the Park Board should have been at the meeting. They had another meeting <br />and was under the impression the Ordinance was on the Agenda for 1st and 2nd reading. Councilman Palmer <br />said he would vote yes, if they give consideration to building a new fire station in the 5th district. <br />ORDINANCES, THIRD READING <br />
