<br />The Board of Trustees for the South Bend Community School Corporation endorses the
<br />issuance of revenue bonds to enable the purchase of property and construction of a
<br />facility in Airport Industrial Park -Phase II by Vanderheyden Distributing, Inc., of South
<br />Bend.
<br />The School Corporation does not consider that this project would cause any major change in
<br />school enrollments nor bring any burden upon the present school facilities.

<br />Dear Mr. King:
<br />The St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission has reviewed the proposal of
<br />Vanderheyden Distributing, Inc., for the purchase of property and the construction of
<br />a facility in Airport Industrial Park - Phase II. The proposal is consistent with the
<br />present zoning and the Comprehensive Plan for Community Development.

<br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Mr. Kenneth Fedder, Attorney for the
<br />Economic Development Commission, indicated that Vanderheyden intended to purchase property and
<br />construct a facility in Airport Industrial Park - Phase II, with the total project cost of the
<br />proposed facility to be approximately $250,000. The number of jobs to be created by the proposed
<br />facility would be approximately seven with an estimated annual payroll increase up to $60,000.
<br />He mentioned that this firm has been an established business in the community for many years and
<br />the construction of the facility would provide an increase in the tax base with local constructio
<br />industry being utilized. Council President Nemeth asked if this was located in the city, and Mr.
<br />Fedder indicated that it was.
<br />Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Horva
<br />The resolution passed by a roll call vote of nine ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller,
<br />Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth).
<br />ORDINANCES, FIRST READING
<br />Council President Nemeth suggested that another meeting of the Council be scheduled for April 30,
<br />1973, at 7:00 p.m., because of the many items before the Council for action. He indicated that
<br />such a motion could be made in the unfinished business portion of the Council meeting.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN
<br />THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN
<br />LANDS (SECTION 10, CREST MANOR).
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance be set for
<br />public hearing and second reading on April 30, 1973, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The motion
<br />carried. (Motion was later reconsidered, and it was moved by Councilman Kopczynski, seconded by
<br />Councilman Parent, that the ordinance be set for public hearing and second reading on April 23,
<br />1973, and carried.)
