SPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 18, 1972 <br />CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING (CONTINUED) <br />"You are hereby notified that there will be a Special Meeting of the Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana on the 18th day of December, 1972 immediately <br />following the regular meeting of the Common Council, in the Council Chambers, County - <br />City Building, for the purpose:-of: <br />Public Hearing on <br />A RESOLUTION REDUCING VARIOUS ACCOUNTS IN THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT BUDGET OF THE <br />CORPORATION GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA BY $228,407.25. <br />A RESOLUTION REDUCING VARIOUS ACCOUNTS IN THE 1973 MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY DEPART'MEET <br />FUND BUDGET OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA BY $223,298.00. <br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is directed to serve a copy of <br />this notice to each member of the Common Council and make due return hereon. <br />Dated: December 15, 1972 <br />/s/ Jerry J. Mumford <br />Member of the South Bend Police Department <br />u, <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, <br />Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth. <br />ABSENT: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 344 -72 <br />NONE <br />A RESOLUTION REDUCING VARIOUS ACCOUNTS IN THE <br />SANITATION DEPARTMENT BUDGET OF THE CORPORATION <br />GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />BY $228,407.25. <br />m <br />WHEREAS, a request has been filed by the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Saint Joseph County, <br />Indiana that it be declared the intent of the highest executive officer to use Federal Revenue <br />Sharing Funds in the calendar year 1973 for the funds and purposes and in the amounts set out <br />below: <br />Sanitation Department: Corporation General Fund <br />Budget Classification <br />SERVICES PERSONAL <br />SERVICES CONTRACTUAL <br />SUPPLIES <br />MATERIALS <br />PROPERTIES <br />TOTAL <br />CURRENT 1973 BUDGET <br />$239,043.00 <br />25,000.00 <br />2,000.00 <br />1,000.00 <br />37,500.00 <br />$304,543.00 <br />REVISED 1973 BUDGET <br />$59,760.75 <br />6,250.00 <br />500.00 <br />250.00 <br />9,375.00 <br />$76,135.75 <br />AMOUNT REDUCED <br />$179,282.25 <br />18,750.00 <br />1,500.00 <br />750.00 <br />28,125.00 <br />$228,407.25 <br />AND, WHEREAS, approval must be given by the appropriating body of each municipal corporation <br />for the use of such funds for the purposes specified; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the appropriating body reduce the 1973 budget as set out above <br />and that a copy of this resolution be furnished the State Board of Tax Commissioners and that <br />board be authorized and directed to apply the amounts set out above to the 1973 budget of this <br />governmental unit and accordingly reduce the tax levies of such funds for the year 1972 payable <br />in 1973. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper officials will appropriate from the Trust Fund, after <br />January 1, 1973, at least a sufficient amount to offset the above reductions. <br />/s/ Peter J. Nemeth <br />Member of the Common Council <br />Mayor Jerry J. Miller then addressed the Council. He congratulated the Council on the work of <br />the past year. He said he has been working with the Department Heads for the past 60 days and <br />will release a complete report on the City. He said he feels the citizens will be very <br />pleased with the progress made. He said some of the ordinances passed by the Council have been <br />talked about all over the State of Indiana and the country and mentioned specifically the <br />Cabinet Government bill. He said he looked forward to a new era of cooperation between the <br />Administration and the Council to make South Bend a better city. <br />
