REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 7, 1980 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council Chambers <br />of the County -City Building on Monday, January 7, 1980, at 7:30 p.m.. The meeting was called <br />to order and the Pledge to theFlag was given. <br />ROLL CALL PRESENT: Council Members Serge, Szymkowiak, Beck, McGann, Taylor <br />Kopczynski, Crone, Dombrowski, Voorde <br />ABSENT: None <br />The Reverend Bishop Crowley gave an invocation. <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your sub - committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would respectfully <br />report that it has inspected the minutes of the December 17, 1979 meeting of the Council and <br />found them correct. <br />The sub - committee, therefore, recommends that the same be approved. <br />/s /Roger 0. Parent <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion that the minutes of the December 17, 1979, meeting of the <br />Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member McGann. The motion carried. <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL OFFICERS <br />Council Vice President Serge indicated that nominations were now open for president. Council <br />Member Dombrowski made a motion to nominate Council Member Serge, seconded by Council Member <br />Kopczynski. Council Member Voorde made a motion to nominate Council Member McGann, seconded <br />by Council Member Crone. Council Member Dombrowski made a motion to close nominations, secondec <br />by Council Member Kopczynski. Council Member Serge declined the nomination for president. <br />Council Member McGann was elected president of a voice vote. Council Member McGann made a <br />motion to nominate Council Member Beck for vice president, seconded by Council Member Szykowiak. <br />Council Member Kopczynski made a motion to nominate Council Member Dombrowski for vice president <br />the motion died for lack of a second. Council Member Beck was elected vice president by a <br />voice vote. Council Member Crone made a motion to nominate Council Member Szymkowiak as chair- <br />man of the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member McGann. Council Member Dombrowski <br />made a motion to nominate Council Member Serge as chairman; Council Member Serge declined the <br />nomination. Council Member Szymkowiak was elected chairman of the Committee of the Whole by a <br />voice vote. <br />RESOLUTIONS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 748 -80 <br />s <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTROLLER OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA TO INVEST CERTAIN IDLE FUNDS <br />DURING THIS YEAR 1980 IN ACCORDANCE WITH INDIANA <br />CODE 5 -13 -1 and 5 -13 -2. <br />WHEREAS, there are certain idle funds of the Civil City of South Bend which may be investe <br />for periods of time without affecting the operationsof the various departments of the City and; <br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 5 -13 -1 and 5 -13 -2 enables the Controller to invest such idle funds <br />with the approval of the Common Council. <br />
