If the hive's entrance is within five feet 5' of the property line there must be <br /> a solid wall dense ve etation or combination of the two which extends five <br /> feet ff) beyond the hive along the property line. <br /> 4. No hive shall be located closer than ten feet(10'1 from a public sidewalk <br /> 5. Colonies mgy be kept on flat roofs without setback or flyaway barrier <br /> restrictions. <br /> (f) A constant sLipply of fresh clean water shall be provided for all hives. DesigLl must <br /> allow bees to access water by landing on hard surface. <br /> (g) The honey bees and equipment shall be maintained in accordance with the„gp 1p cable <br /> provisions of the Indiana Code and apiary practices addressing honey bees recommended by the <br /> State of Indiana's Apiary Ins-rector(s). <br /> See. 5-53 Honey Beekeeping Permit„Reguired, Permit Fee, Denial or Revocation. <br /> (a) Any person desiring;to raise the common domestic honey bee limited to the Apis <br /> melh eraspecies, must file an application for a Honey Beekeeping Permit with the,Department of <br /> Code Enforcement's Division of Animal Care and Control for review. <br /> (b) A filing fee of twenty dollars 20 shall be re uired at the time of film a completed <br /> application. <br /> (c) Prior to obtaining honey bees, a first-time applicant for a honey bee permit must <br /> provide written proof to the Division of Animal Care and Control that he/she has completed <br /> training or received information on beekeeping. by an entity recognized by the Indiana <br /> Department dent of Natural Resources ep <br /> rces Dartment of Entomology,.Division of Entomology & Plant <br /> Pathology Purdue University. <br /> (d) The Division of Animal Care and Control may deny or revoke a permit to any yperson <br /> „ <br /> who has failed or refused to comply with the permit requircments, who has made any fraudulent <br /> „.� <br /> or false statement or material representation in the permit application , or in connection_with the <br /> keg ping or maintenance of honey bees; or who has kept such honey bees in such a manner as to <br /> constitute a breach of the peace or a menace to the health, safety or welfare of the public <br /> (e) Upon denial or revocation of a pennit,the Law De partment shall provide notice to the <br /> 4 A current"List of Assistance for Beekeeping in Indiana”may be accessed at www.in.fzov/dnr/entornolo/files/M- <br /> indiana beckeepinm information.pdf <br />
