Union Station
The proposed Land Use and Transportation Plan designates both Lafayette and South Streets as
arterials but does not indicate any change in the existing rights of way or pavement widths.
The property is located at the juncture of proposed high density residential, commercial, and
light industrial land uses, offering a wide range of adaptive uses for the property. The Area
Plan Commission staff would therefore return a favorable recommendation to the Historic Preserva-
tion Commission.
803 North Notre Dame Avenue
It should be noted that the proposed Land Use and Transportation Plan designates Notre Dame
Avenue between South Bend Avenue and Corby Boulevard as a collector street but does not indicate
any change in the existing right of way or ,pavement width. The plan designates South Bend
Avenue between St. Louis Boulevard and Notre Dame _Avenue as an arterial street and indicates
an additional 20 feet in right of way and pavement width. These proposed improvements would not,
however, involve the taking of the subject structure. It should also be noted that the structur(
which is being used as a neighborhood center today, lends itself well to adaptive use. The
Area Plan Commission staff would therefore return a favorable recommendation to the Historic
Preservation Commission.
