The requests are <br />amended to increase the position from part time (25 hours /week) to full time (32 hours /week) in <br />the Salary Ordinance and increase the cost of the position to $29,250 in 2013. The additional <br />$5,000.00 from the General Fund to cover costs of membership in two important, diversity <br />related professional organizations remains unchanged for a total of $34,250 from the General <br />Fund. <br />After further review of responsibilities for the Diversity Compliance Officer, the increase <br />to a 32 hour /week status is required to successfully accomplish the development of Minority and <br />Women Business Enterprise relations with the City procurement process, sustain those same <br />relationships, and to develop operational tools required to monitor and support the entire <br />diversity purchasing initiative. <br />The ordinances (attached) will need to be re- advertised because the dollar amount of the <br />appropriation has increased over the originally advertised sum. <br />The City Administration believes that the amendment and appropriation will help South <br />Bend achieve its goal of increased diversity development in City contract and hopes that the <br />Council will approve both Ordinances. <br />Od III <br />Thank you for your consideration of these matters.
