ORDINANCE NO. 102M-0 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, APPROPRIATING THE TOTAL SUM OF $34,250.00 WITHIN CITY <br />GENERAL FUND #101 FOR A NEW EMPLOYEE POSITION AND FOR <br />PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION DUES <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The Common Council is amending the 2013 Salary Ordinance ( #10199 -12) to add the <br />new position of "Diversity Compliance Officer ", a full time, 32 hour per week position. It is <br />necessary to appropriate funds to support the salary and benefits of this employee for the <br />remainder of calendar year 2013 in the sum of Twenty Nine Thousand Two Hundred Fifty <br />Dollars ($29,250.00). <br />As part of the City's efforts to increase minority participation in the City of South Bend's <br />public bidding opportunities, and in the provision of goods and services to the City, it is <br />important for the City to join and participate in certain professional organizations which provide <br />resources and support for diversity development, the dues for which total five thousand dollars <br />($5,000.00). These organizations are the Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council and <br />the Women's Business Enterprise Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $29,250.00 is hereby appropriated and set aside within the <br />Administration and Finance Department of the City General Fund #101 for the purpose of <br />funding the salary and benefits for a new employee position within the City, that is, the Diversity <br />Compliance Officer for the remainder of calendar year 2013. <br />SECTION II. The sum of $5,000.00 is _hereby appropriated and set aside within the <br />Administration and Finance Department of the City General Fund #101, for the purpose of <br />membership fees in and expenses for professional associations which furnish resources and <br />support for diversity development, namely, the Indiana Minority Suppliers Development Council <br />and the Women's Business Enterprise Council. <br />SECTION III.
